surrounded by mountains & magic

When Shannon (they/them) and Amberlynn (they/them) reached out to be about me photographing their elopement, I have to admit, I was nervous. It would be my first wedding, ever. I wasn't sure if I was ready for one just eight months into launching my photography business. But I knew it would be so special, for me, and especially for them.

We had so much fun together doing their engagement photos a few months earlier. I am unbelievably grateful for the opportunity, and even more-so, the trust.

Seeing and feeling the love they have for each other is something very, very special to witness. It's hard to describe in words, so I'm hoping that my photos do it some justice.

I met Shannon and Amberlynn in their downtown Bar Harbor hotel room as they were getting ready together -- something I recommend for all couples! They greeted me in their matching LL Bean robes, and gave me the tour of their suite. It was very laid back and comfy. They poured themselves a couple of drinks and their moms came to help them get ready.

Shan's mom did all the florals, which was such a special and personal touch. Shan and Amberlynn surprised their moms with cards and gifts. Once everyone was dressed, we all headed out to meet up with the whole family.

We all gathered at the trailhead and started the short walk. Everyone got the chance to chat and catch up on the walk and it was so beautiful to see everyone help each other through the snow, up and down the trail.

When the trail finally opened up to the beach, I think we could all feel the magic around us. Acadia is such an incredible place, and to be there with such a small group with so much love, was something else.

We set up the little ceremony space and their family and friends surrounded the two of them, and it was like we were all in our own little world just for a few moments.

Shannon's dad officiated, and did a wonderful job. The couple read their own vows to each other, and I think everyone was crying, myself included, hiding behind my camera. The love they share is unlike anything I've seen.

After the ceremony I sent everyone back up the trail and stole the newlyweds for some alone time on the beach. It was cold, windy, and a little wet, but I wanted to make sure they had some time together to celebrate themselves and soak it all in. And I meannnnnn I think the photos speak for themselves.

We hustled our butts back to the cars so the couple could get back to their people and celebrate the night away. It was such a magical experience. I can't recommend eloping enough, especially in Acadia. It's a place and a feeling I've never fully been able to describe. It just has to be experienced.

If you go, I hope you feel it, and I hope ya'll take me along for the ride!
